Charnetta N. Moss, Esq., is the founding member of Moss & Associates, PLLC. She specializes in the criminal defense and legal representation of those who have been accused of committing misdemeanor offenses.  Ms. Moss earned her Juris Doctorate degree, with a concentration in litigation, from Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  She earned her Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo, as well as a second Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies also from the University of Toledo. 


Prior to founding Moss & Associates, Ms. Moss worked with the Washtenaw County Office of the Public Defender in Ann Arbor, MI.  While at the Public Defender’s office she successfully represented thousands of satisfied clients in various district and circuit courts within Washtenaw County.  As part of a high volume trial lawyer team, Ms. Moss has the experience needed to properly analyze case evidence to determine the adequacy and justification of stops, searches, seizures, and the authorization of charges by the prosecution.  She also has the experience and skill to successfully negotiate with prosecutors and probation agents on behalf of clients.  Ms. Moss has extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and the judicial process which allows her to quickly and accurately assess the critical issues of a case so that clients know what to expect at the outset, can make the necessary arrangements to successfully resolve the matter the first time, and ensure that there are no further violations of the law relevant to the case. This saves clients time and money in the end and allows them to move forward with their lives.


Ms. Moss is a member of the State bar of Michigan, Detroit Bar Association, Vanzhetti-Hamilton Bar Association, Federal Bar Association of the Eastern District of Michigan, and the American Bar Association. She has assisted with various community outreach programs which include an offender re-entry program, community citizen circle, and an anti-smoking project.  Ms. Moss also has training in mediation and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).
